Crowding of the teeth

Crowding of the teeth occurs when there is not enough space in the dental arch to accommodate all the teeth.  Crowding is characterized by teeth that are pushed out of the dental arch or overlapped.

Anterior Open-bite

An anterior open-bite is when the front teeth do not touch.  It can be caused by habits such as thumb-sucking or tongue thrusting or can be the result of a poor jaw relationship.

Deep overbite

A deep bite is characterized by excessive overlap of the front teeth.  If the deep bite is too excessive, the palate and/or teeth can be traumatized.

Missing lateral incisors

Missing maxillary lateral incisors is a common congenital problem.  The missing lateral incisor can be replaced by substituting a canine in the lateral incisor's space or using a prosthetic tooth to replace the tooth.

Under-bite

An under-bite is characterized by the lower front teeth being in front of the upper front teeth.  An under-bite can be used by the lower teeth shifting in front of the upper teeth or from the lower jaw being too far forward of the upper jaw.

Spacing of teeth

Spacing between the teeth can occur due to extra space in the dental arch, small teeth, or missing teeth.  The space can usually closed by orthodontic treatment only. If there is excessive space, collaboration with your general dentist will be necessary.

Overbite

Overbite  is characterized by the upper front teeth being excessively in front of the lower front teeth.  An overbite can be caused by the lower jaw being too far back or the upper jaw being to far forward.
